Part 5: School Library

In 1973, a library was first established on-site at Ashburton Netherby School, at the front entrance gate. It was the area's first official school library and was considered a pilot project at the time. After a fire in 1992, the original library building was relocated to Chertsey School.

The new library was set up in the main block, in what is now Room 1. Over the next 25 years, the library underwent several changes. As the school roll grew again in 2016, the library was converted into a classroom (Room 1), and the library replaced the resource area.

In 2022-2023, the dental clinic was transformed into a new library, which was officially opened by award-winning author and illustrator David Elliot, a former student of Ashburton Netherby School.

The current library in May 2024.
